Wpd taps Nordex for 33MW in Finland
German turbine manufacturer Nordex has received an order from developer Wpd for the delivery and installation of 33MW at the Mäkikangas wind farm near the western Finnish town of Pyhäjoki.
Nordex will supply 11 of its 3MW N117/3000 Generation Delta turbines in their cold climate version, as the site experiences periods of extremely low temperatures of 30 degrees Celsius below freezing.
Nordex will install the machines at a hub height of 141 metres in order to achieve the greatest possible electricity yield.
Mäkikangas is Wpd’s first project in Finland.
“We are pleased that Wpd has again opted for our turbines and has decided to order our Generation Delta this time. Several turbines of this platform are already in operation in Germany, Denmark and Finland,” says Lars Bondo Krogsgaard, a member of Nordex’s management board.
