Nordex in 37.6MW Turkey orders

German wind turbine manufacturer Nordex has won three new contracts in Turkey with a combined capacity to generate 37.6MW of electricity, expanding an already strong presence in the Turkish growth market.

The company will supply six of its N117/3000 generation Delta turbines for the 18MW Cesme RES project close to Izmir to Turkish energy company ABK Cesme Enerji Üretim.

Nordex had launched the N117/3000 only in spring 2013. The turbine is designed specifically for medium-strong wind conditions.

The second contract is over the supply of four N117/2400 turbines for the Aliaga RES project by investor Akca Holding. Construction of the project is scheduled for the summer of 2014, also near Izmir.

The turbine maker has also inked an order from Karesi Enerji for four of its N100/2500 model, to extend the 45MW Akres wind farm that already consists of 18 Nordex N90/2500 turbines. Karesi Enerji is a unit of Turkish transformer maker Best.

“These contracts fully vindicate our product strategy,” says Nordex board member Lars Bondo Krogsgaard.

“With our products we are able to guarantee customers optimum yields in all customary locations. We are also pleased to be able to continue on our successful course in Turkey.”

The manufacturer has already installed a capacity of 710MW in Turkey and received orders totalling 160MW in the country in the course of 2013.
