Pre-assembly of the 60-metre blades and nacelles into the three-blade rotor star, each weighing more than 100 tonnes, was done at JadeWeserPort, in Wilhelmshaven.
Vidar, which was launched last month after its construction in Poland, is now awaiting the next weather window that will allow it to transport the rotors to the 400MW Global Tech I, some 170km from Wilhelmshaven.
Turbine installation is already in full swing at Global Tech I thanks to Brave Tern and Thor, the latter of which is also owned by Hochtief Solutions.
