Nordex doubles German share

Wind turbine maker Nordex said it doubled its share of its home German market last year after boosting installations by 165%.

Nordex added 251MW in 2013 to take its share of the German market to 8.4%, said CEO Jürgen Zeschky.

The growth was driven by the success of its light-wind machine the N117/2400, which accounted for 75% of the installation volume, said the Nordex boss.

Zeschky predicted further installation growth for the company in Germany this year.

The company’s export business would help it to weather a “short-term fluctuation” in 2015 before a “stable course for growth” resumes that could see “a good 2.5GW” in total of new onshore turbines installed annually across Germany.
