Vestas gets first 30MW Turkey chunk

Vestas has booked the first firm order under a framework agreement to deliver 207MW across five locations in Turkey to a joint venture between the German utility EnBW and the Turkish holding company Borusan – first reported in Recharge in early February.

Nine V112-3.3MW turbines will be delivered in the fourth quarter of 2014 for the extension of the Bandirma wind power plant located in the Balikesir province, south of the Marmara Sea.

The 30MW contract includes supply, installation and commissioning of the wind turbines, as well as a five-year service agreement, extendable to 10 years.

Commissioning is expected in the first quarter of 2015.

Bandirma had 15 V90-3.0 MW turbines installed in 2008 and once completed will have a total estimated annual production of more than 292,000MWh.

Next on the agenda for the JV is to develop 50MW wind projects each at Canakkale, Mersin and Bursa, and a 30MW project at Izmir.
