China groups' 2013 joy – MAKE

Chinese wind turbine manufacturers reaped the rewards of their domestic rebound last year, according to latest market-share rankings from consultancy MAKE.

Vestas stayed as global number one for 2013, but Chinese producer Goldwind leapt to second place from seventh in the 2012 rankings.

MAKE said a 16% year-on-year boost in Chinese installations helped other producers such as Ming Yang and United Power cement their places among the leading global players.

However, MAKE cautioned that their places in the top rankings were highly dependent on domestic performance.

Enercon and Nordex were the biggest western winners thanks to German wind additions, MAKE said.

GE slipped from number two last year to sixth place, as the drop in Us installations last year took its toll. Siemens maintained its supremacy in the offshore market.
