The huge array would be used to “support the best use of wind power and improve grid efficiency in Northern Ireland”, said AES.
The company has applied to the System Operator of Northern Ireland (SONI) for a connection for the batteries.
“We have submitted a connection application to SONI to secure transmission grid connection at Kilroot and are continuing to explore potential commercial arrangements,” says Mark Miller, vice president, AES United Kingdom and Ireland Markets.
