Vestas names head of service

Vestas has appointed Christian Venderby to head the new stand-alone service division the wind group is creating.

Venderby – currently senior vice-president, operations, at Vestas Americas – takes up his new post as group senior vice-president, service on 1 June. He also joins the Vestas executive committee.

Venderby will lead the new service organisation announced by Vestas CEO Anders Runevad when the Danish group presented its full-year results in February.

Runevad said then that he wants to grow Vestas’ service business by more than 30%.

Venderby’s business will set out to maximise service contracts on new turbine orders and “to increase the current service contract renewal rate by developing higher value service offerings”, said the company today.

Venderby, a Dane, joined Vestas in 2006 as North America finance chief and took up his current role in North America in 2010.

Before joining the turbine producer he spent more than 15 years with engineering group FLSmidth.

Runevad said of Venderby: “Based on his experience, commitment and extensive accomplishments during his career, he is well qualified to build on Vestas’ existing service business achievements and we look forward to the many contributions he will bring to this vital business area, which is an important part of our new strategy, Profitable Growth for Vestas.”
