The turbines – designed to withstand low temperatures – are the most powerful yet installed in the country’s wind market, according to their Spanish manufacturer.
The initial 18MW of wind turbines at Simo are part of a 135MW framework deal Gamesa signed with developer TuuliWatti in 2012.
That was followed by a 285MW framework agreement between the two for Gamesa’s 5MW onshore turbine.
