Developer Sandridge Solar Power – a partnership between Renewable Power, EnvironGauge and Notus Energy – is planning to appeal the decision.
It submitted the application to Wiltshire Council for a solar farm to the east of Melksham that would have the capacity to generate enough electricity to meet the needs of 12,000 homes.
The plant would be towards the top end of the scale of PV developments in the UK, currently a hotbed of solar activity.
