CT wins Gode Wind cable contract

Dong Energy has awarded CT Offshore the contract to install inter-array cables at its Gode Wind 1 and 2 wind farms off Germany.

The work, which encompasses installation and burial of 97 cables at the €2.2bn developments, is slated to start in the summer of 2015.

"In the current market this is an important contract for CT Offshore," says chairman Jens Frederik Hansen.

"While new and larger cable-laying vessels are being deployed on the offshore renewable scene, we still believe that a decisive factor to accomplish successfully is the years of experience and extensive knowledge that [we] can offer within installation and burial of inter-array cables."

Once the 330MW Gode Wind 1 and 252MW second phase are in full production in 2016, Dong will have a 3.5GW offshore wind portfolio, more than halfway to the Danish utility's target of 6.5GW by the end of the decade.
