Officials have advised Scottish Borders Council to object to the Scottish government over the plans, as the development would lie adjacent to an existing wind farm.

Councillors have been advised that the 27- turbine extension would "unacceptably harm" the Borders landscape.

The proposed Aikengall 2a wind farm would form an extension to the 48MW Aikengall, which opened in March 2009, and the consented 68MW Aikengall 2-Wester Dod community project, which is awaiting construction.
