First Minister Alex Salmond announced the goal of 50g of CO2/kWh, compared to the 347g/kWh seen in 2010.
The UK government at Westminster has resisted calls to immediately include a decarbonisation target in its own Electricity Market Reform package, which is currently making its way through Parliament.
The goal is included in Scotland’s new national offshore wind strategy and a draft Scottish Government report on emissions policies, both published today.
