Arise plans Scottish wind farm
Sweden’s Arise Windpower plans to build a wind farm of up to 35 turbines in Scotland, in its second foray outside its home market within a week.
Arise says it has signed an exclusive agreement with landowner Argyll Estates to develop the plant at a site on Scotland’s west coast.
It will apply for planning consent within two years and if successful will begin building the plant in 2016 at the earliest.
Arise, which both develops and operates plants, says it hopes to secure more deals in Scotland to build wind farms in the 2016-2018 period.
The company is pursuing a strategy of diversification outside Sweden.
Earlier this week it signed a conditional agreement to buy a 130MW wind farm in Norway – its first major project in that country.
Arise wants to build 1GW of onshore wind by 2017, half of which it would retain under ownership.
