Areva’s Renewable Energies businessunit pulled in €572m ($781m) in 2012, 92.3% ahead of the year before.

The company said revenue from offshorewind was “up sharply with the progress of the GlobalTech 1 and Borkum West 2projects in Germany”.

The construction of concentrating solarpower (CSP) projects in Australia and India also played its part.

But Areva said the renewables group’sbacklog fell by half to €844m at the end of 2012, partly because ofcancellation of bioenergy orders in Brazil.
