Alstom 6MW in line for Arcadis Ost 1
Authorities in the German state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern have granted conditional planning approval to the up-to-350MW Arcadis Ost 1 offshore wind farm, with Alstom’s new 6MW machine named as early turbine choice.
The wind farm is planned for a site of 30 sq km off the state's coast in the Baltic Sea.
Developer KNK wind is a joint venture including utility collective WV Energie and wind turbine group Nordex.
The developer, which aims to build the plant in 2016, must still obtain construction approval for the wind farm, which includes meeting detailed environmental impact conditions.
The project details on the state's website say Alstom’s Haliade 6MW machine is envisaged “at this stage”.
The Haliade is currently undergoing testing in Northern France, with a second machine on its way to the Belwind offshore project in Belgium.
