Just two weeks after environment minister Peter Altmaier shocked the renewables industry with a proposal to freeze a surcharge on electricity that finances feed-in tariff (FIT) payments, the opposition Green Party has come up with a plan of its own to amend support for green power.

The Greens, who were largely responsible back in  2000 for drafting the Renewable Energy Act that has kick-started the sector with generous FITs, don’t want to see that progress destroyed.
