“Freezing the renewable energy surcharge doesn’t mean that a build-up (of renewables) isn’t possible anymore,” Altmaier told an audience of wind industry executives at a debate on Germany’s renewable energy legislation.
But the system has to be reformed in a way that will make it possible to install more capacity with the same amount of support, he said.
This year, feed-in tariffs (FITs) for renwables will total up to €20bn ($26.9bn)
