The quarterly country attractiveness index from accountants Ernst and Young (E&Y) puts the UK in second spot for offshore wind behind Germany.

The E&Y report says policy-makers’ failure to provide long-term certainty threatens to create “investor apathy” over opportunities in the UK, despite the country’s big ambitions offshore that has seen it install by far the most capacity globally.

RenewableUK lays the blame squarely at the door of Britain’s coalition government, which has faced constant criticism that its legislation lacks the detail needed to convince investors to seal the deal.
