Rieks says he wants to build on GES’s traditional strengths in southern Europe to make it one of the top three globally in its field.

GES has worked on projects such as the Alpha Ventus offshore wind farm in Germany and the 400MW Oaxaca onshore plant in Mexico.

Rieks spent almost two decades with Vestas. His tenure at the Danish wind-power giant came to an abrupt end in February last year when he was fired as head of offshore less than three weeks after being appointed, becoming one of a string of senior executives to depart the company around the same time.
