The long-mooted £25m ($32.5m) deep-water project, shepherded by the UK Energy Technologies Institute(ETI),will use a PelaStar TLP foundation married to an Alstom Haliade 150 turbine, two of which are being readied for trials on fixed-jacket structures off France.

The US-based Glosten has chosen Harland and Wolff's yard in Belfast,Northern Ireland, to build the demonstrator.

Glosten will move the concept off the drawing board via a front-end engineering design study, expected to take about 12 months, at a cost of £4m.
