Reports indicate that some28% of Scotland – and particularly areas in the north and west Highlands – willbe deemed “wild lands” under maps to be drawn up for the government by ScottishNatural Heritage, a public body.
The map has not beenpublished yet, making it difficult for the renewables industry to draw anyspecific conclusions. The areas will be unveiled under a new National PlanningFramework to be opened to consultation later this month, a document which willultimately chart the country’s development priorities over the next severaldecades.
