During the meeting, Bathowrote on Twitter that France wanted to see the EU adopt a triple objective for2030, covering renewables, climate and energy efficiency.
However, it also emerged that any such deal was unlikely to be struck before 2015.
Energy and environmentministers discussed a range of issues, includingrenewables, shale gas and the emissions trading scheme. They also debated the Green Paper proposal bythe Commission to extend 2020 goals through to 2030.
