Earnings beforeinterest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (ebitda) at the German utility's renewablesunit rose to €468m ($613m) in the first quarter from €391m a yearearlier.

Ebitda at hydro rose 16%to €251m, mainly due to a higher sales volume in Italy and a weather-drivenincrease in output in Spain, but was adversely affected in Germany by lowerprices for peak-load power from pumped-storage hydroelectric stations.
