The £200m ($305m) project, sited some 25km south of Inverness on the Dunmaglass estate, received full planning permission from the Scottish government in late 2010.

The project will swing into full construction later this year, with an early enough anticipated completion date to allow SSE to qualify for the Renewables Obligation scheme.

SSE claims the site boasts an “exceptional” wind resource, with potential load factors above 40% and an anticipated output of some 350GWh per year.
