Italian-owned developer Falck Renewables and local partner RDC Scotland hoped to install up to 17 3MW turbines at a site southwest of Wick.

The proposal had already been scaled down from an original 23 turbines and local planning authority Highland Council had not objected.

However, Scottish Natural Heritage opposed the plan, prompting a public enquiry and today’s decision by energy minister Fergus Ewing to refuse consent.
