The operator of Wave Hub --the offshore facility in southwest England that is in the frame to test the unit -- has handed in applications for an electricity consent and marine licence for the turbine.
Approval would clear the way for the floater to be installed and switched on as early as 2015.
The tension-legplatform (TLP), dubbed PelaStar, was designed by US engineer Glosten and is fitted with a6MW Alstom Haliade 150 turbine.
