The JV will “combine Vestas and MHI’s current capabilities within offshore wind turbines,” Vestas says in a statement.
Vestas will transfer the development of its new V164-8.0MW turbine, its V112 order book, existing offshore service contracts and around 300 employees to the JV.
Japan's MHI will inject €100m ($134.9m) in cash into the JV, with another €200m based on “milestone achievements reflecting the natural early product life cycle”of Vestas's 8MW V164 turbine.
