The V105-3.3MW turbine, which will feature51.5-metre blades based on the 55-metre-long units used on its V112-3.0MWmodel, promises 22% greater output in IEC 1A conditions – turbulent up to 10metres per second wind – than the company's workhorse V90-3.0MW.
With a 107-metre-diameter rotor and72.5-metre-tall tubular steel tower, the new model will stay under the127-metre tip height threshold set for the majority of the onshore wind farmsset to be built in Britain through to 2020, while its full-scale converteris fully compliant with grid codes in the region.
