Thirty-six items of unexploded ordnance (UXO), including "small rockets" and 450kg bombs, were detonated remotely in the sea off eastern England by specialist contractors (see video below), while five were removed after being certified as explosive-free.
The largest device found was a 698kg German ground mine.
"The number of items discovered was a surprise and the most we have seen on a Dong Energy project to date," said Eleftheria Melekou, the company's site investigations project manager.
