Denmark has launched its largest-ever offshore wind tender, covering six sites with a combined capacity of 6GW.
For every gigawatt built, the equivalent to the power consumption of 1 million European households will be consumed, the Nordic country’s climate and energy ministry said. Denmark will allow developers to ‘overplant’ the sites, giving them the freedom to install a total of up to 10GW or more across the sites.
