Marubeni buys 5% more of Seajacks

Marubeni has purchased 5% of Seajacks International from Innovation Network Corporation of Japan (INCJ), a state-backed private equity group.

INCJ announced the move in an online statement but did not reveal the terms of the deal, which brings Marubeni’s stake in the UK-based offshore wind installer to roughly 55%.

The two sides jointly acquired Seajacks from investment firm Riverstone Holdings in early 2012.

Marubeni has said that it will continue to invest in offshore wind projects throughout the world.

Last December, it agreed to sell half of its 49.9% stake in the 172MW Gunfleet Sands wind farm off eastern England to the Development Bank of Japan (DBJ).
