Longyuan enjoys 53% wind boost

Chinese power giant Longyuan said its wind farms boosted generation by more than half in September compared to a year earlier.

Longyuan – China’s biggest wind owner with more than 10.6GW in operation – generated 1.74TWh of power last month, a 53% increase on September 2012.

Despite adding little capacity over the past year – just 117MW in the first half – Longyuan has focused on boosting output from its plants and has also felt the benefits of easing grid-curtailment problems in China.

It booked a 31.4% boost in power generation for the January to June period when it announced half-year results in August.
