The secretary of India’s new group for independent wind-power producers talks about the big issues facing a changing industry

Why was the Wind Independent Power Producers Association [Wippa] set up? We felt that a new platform was necessary to represent independent power producers [IPPs] in front of policymakers and keep track of the issues that are critical for wind-power policies in India. The Indian Wind Turbine Manufacturers Association has taken a lead until now, but as producers we have certain different interests and needed an exclusive body. We represent all the main IPPs, such as Mytrah, Greenko, Green Infra, Tata Power and so on.
