As well as delivery and
installation of the 3MW turbines, the deal also includes a three-year service
agreement with the German manufacturer.
"Japan is one
of the most attractive emerging wind markets in the Asia-Pacific region,"
said Kay Weber, CEO of the APAC unit in the wind power division of Siemens
commissioning of the wind turbines is scheduled for summer 2014.
According to the Japanese Wind Power
Association, Japan plans to install 11GW of wind power by 2020 and 50GW by
2050, Siemens said.
Japan currently has a total of about 2.5GW of wind capacity in place.
