Suzlon to close production units

Indian wind group Suzlon is to close the rotor blade and control panel manufacturing units at its plant in Puducherry.

Suzlon took the decision at a board meeting yesterday – the day the company announced another big quarterly loss.

In a stock exchange statement Suzlon says: “The decision follows on account of the challenges faced in industrial relations at the manufacturing facility, coupled with logistical issues faced by the facility in handling multi-megawatt wind turbine components of increasing size, and the current financial position of the company.”

No further details were given regarding future supply arrangements or the number of jobs affected.
