Suzlon gets 50MW Rajasthan order

Indian wind turbine maker Suzlon has signed a deal to supply a 50MW project in Rajasthan for local group Orange Renewable Power.

Suzlon will supply 24 units of its 2.1MW turbine to the project, scheduled for completion in the 2012-2013 budget year.

Suzlon will also provide operations and maintenance to the wind farm in Rajasthan’s Jaisalmer district.

New Delhi-based Orange Renewable Power is a new independent power producer (IPP) with plans to develop and operate a portfolio of renewable energy assets, including wind, biomass, small hydro and solar.

Growing investment from domestic and international IPPs is playing “a pivotal role” in the expansion of India’s wind energy market, says Rohit Modi, Suzlon’s chief executive for India and emerging markets.
