Suzlon gets 22MW order from miner

India’s Suzlon has received a follow-on 22MW turbine order from iron-ore miner Sri Kumarswamy Mineral Exports (SKME), with the turbines to be commissioned by the end of the year.

The order comprises Suzlon’s S88 and S66 machines, rated at 2.1MW and 1.25MW respectively, to be installed in the state of Tamil Nadu.

SKME, an iron-ore specialist, already owns 29.25MW of Suzlon-developed wind capacity across the states of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra.

“We see Suzlon … as the right long-term partner in our expanding wind-energy business,” says SKME managing director Shantesh Gureddi.

Shares in Pune-based Suzlon, which owns German turbine maker REpower, have surged more than 40% since late November, when its lenders agreed to give it critical breathing space…
