China’s largest turbine manufacturer started operating its GW115/2000 design on 7 April in Zhangbei, Hebei province.
The direct-drive permanent-magnet turbine features a 115-metre rotor and a swept area of 10,434.4 square metres, Goldwind said in an online statement.
The GW115/2000 is designed for average wind speeds of 5.2 m/s.
In February, Goldwind installed a prototype of its 6MW offshore turbine at a facility in the coastal city of Dafeng, in eastern China’s Jiangsu province.
