The pilot project, completed under the ADB’s $3.8m regional technical assistance, is part of the bank’s Energy for All initiative, which increases access to energy in rural Nepal, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and the Maldives.

Designed and funded by the ADB, the hybrid development was installed in Dhaubadi village in western Nepal in 2011.

The project, which provides electricity to 46 households, has two sets of 5kW wind turbines, complemented by 2kW of PV panels used to satisfy the village’s electricity demand of 43.6KWh
