Swedish renewables group OX2 has bought its way into the Polish wind market with the acquisition of Warsaw-based Greenfield Wind.

OX2 – which until changing its name in May was called O2 – said the deal adds a project portfolio of about 220MW to its books.

Greenfield, which has 11 staff, will become OX2 Wind Poland.

OX2 CEO Johan Ihrfelt said: “Poland is an exciting market, and we have now acquired the local expertise we need to start the construction of several projects within the next two years.”

OX2 is already a major developer in the Nordic region, where it claims to have built almost half the current operational onshore wind capacity.

The group has planned about 1GW of wind, and has worked with high-profile partners in the region including Ikea and Google.
