Samsung-Pattern buy Ontario project

Samsung Renewable Energy and Pattern Energy Group has acquired a 40-turbine wind project from GDF Suez Group that the joint venture partners expect to construct in southwestern Ontario, Pattern spokesman Matt Dallas tell Recharge.

Financial terms of the transaction were not made public.

Colin Edwards, Pattern’s senior developer in Ontario, calls the deal an exciting addition to the company’s expanding portfolio in Canada’s most populous province.

He says that both companies look forward to working with the Town of Lakeshore and community there to help realize the project and create local jobs.

Pattern and Samsung in April completed the 270MW South Kent project in Ontario, the country’s largest wind farm.

Under a revised June 2013 agreement with the province, Samsung will provide Ontario with 1.069GW of wind  versus the original 2GW.
