Tekmar gets Cape Wind deal

Tekmar Energy has won a deal to provide cable protection systems (CPS) at the Cape Wind offshore wind project in the US.

Tekmar will supply 200 of its TekLink systems for the project in Nantucket Sound, off the coast of Cape Cod, Massachusetts.

Cape Wind – on course to be the first US offshore wind farm – will use a pre-installation technique to deploy CPS before the main cabling, allowing the saving of costs in the latter stage by using a smaller vessel, said Tekmar.

Cape Wind is due to install 130 Siemens 3.6MW turbines by late 2016.
