Former Vestas CEO Ditlev Engel is to head a new think-tank called Big Future 2025, aimed at helping Danish companies create economic growth with an emphasis on sustainability.

Engel left Vestas in August 2013 after eight years in the top job at the Danish wind turbine giant.

The think-tank has been set up by Niels Duedahl, CEO at Danish energy firm SE. It will also include a number of prominent Danish business leaders and scientists.

Engel told Danish daily Borsen that he took the role because he shares the organisation’s vision of sustainable growth, and believes his experience in the wind industry – and before that as boss of paint and coatings group Hempel – can help achieve it.

Big Future 2025 aims to assist companies in the transition to a greener and more sustainable operation while maintaining profits.

“It’s all about raising productivity and at the same time improving the problem with sustainability. I believe this is very important,” Engel told Borsen.
