Aneel OKs more new Brazil wind

Brazil's power regulator Aneel has authorised partial start of commercial operations at the 12MW Cerro Chato V and full operations at the 20.7MW Pedra Preta wind farms.

While Cerro Chato, in the southern state of Rio Grande do Sul, was authorised to start three of its six 2MW turbines, Pedra Preta, in the northeastern state of Rio Grande do Norte still lacks a connection to the grid.

Cerro Chato V's other turbines are already undergoing tests and should start commercial operations in the coming days.

It is part of the 90MW expansion of the Cerro Chato complex, which also includes the 10MW Cerro Chato IV, 30MW Cerro Chato VI, 8MW Cerro dos Trindade and 30MW Ibirapuitã I.

Cerro Chato V is owned by federal power company Eletrosul and investment fund Rio Bravo, and sold power at the 2011 auction.

Pedra Preta is owned by private power company CPFL Renováveis and is part of the 78.2MW Macados I wind power complex which sold power in 2010.
