Aneel OK for link-less Cristal

The Cristal plants use Siemens turbines

Brazil's regulator Aneel authorised Italian renewable energy company Enel Green Power to start commercial operations at the 30MW Cristal wind power plant – although a lack of grid connection means no electricity will be transmitted.

Cristal is the last wind farm of the 90MW complex of the same name, whose commercial readiness was approved by Aneel.

The other farms are the 30MW Primavera and 30MW São Judas, both of which had been authorised to operate commercially in March.

The whole Siemens turbine-equipped complex, however, is standing idle while it awaits a delayed grid link.

Under Brazilian regulations, power companies start receiving revenue from the government when projects are completed but cannot generate due to lack of connection to the grid.
