Sinovel to start 6MW deployment

Sinovel has received approval from the Chinese authorities to begin installing its 6MW turbines at the 102MW Lingang offshore demonstration project near Shanghai.

The Chinese manufacturer is now set to install 17 of its 6MW turbines for the first, 1.76bn yuan ($282.6m) phase of the 200MW project.

The Shanghai municipal authorities approved the installation in late April, according to Chinese media reports.

Shanghai Lingang Wind Power, a joint venture between Huaneng New Energy and Shenneng New Energy, is developing the site roughly 9km off the coast of Shanghai’s Lingang port.
