Navitus Bay accepted for scrutiny

The application for the development consent to construct and operate the 970MW Navitus Bay Wind Park – a 50/50 JV between EDF and Eneco –has been accepted for examination by the UK Planning Inspectorate.

The project would comprise up to 194 wind turbines in the English Channel off the Dorset coast in southern England.

At the end of a maximum six-months examination process the Planning Inspectorate will make a recommendation to the UK secretary of state.

In December 2012, plans for Navitus Bay farm were scaled back from 333 turbines to minimise visual impact.
