Gamesa has confirmed a 144MW turbine supply contract to a subsidiary of state power group Eletrosul, as first reported by Recharge in April.

The Spanish group will deliver 72 of its G97-2.0 MW machines to wind farms in the Chui complex being built in Rio Grande do Sul state.

This is Gamesa's second supply deal with the same company, which is made up of investment fund Rio Bravo and federal power company Eletrosul. In 2012, the company agreed to supply 258MW for 10 wind farms in Brazil.

The turbines will be produced at Gamesa’s Camaçari factory with delivery due in the third quarter of 2014 for commissioning in Q1 next year.

The contract also includes 15-year operation and maintenance services of the six wind farms.

Recharge reported in April how Eletrosul was given licenses for the four Chui wind farms it had not yet received permission for from state authorities.

The Chuí complex is made up of the 22MW Minuano I (now Chuí VI), 24MW Minuano II (now Chuí VII) 24MW Chuí I, the 22MW Chuí II, the 22MW Chuí IV and the 30MW Chuí V wind farms.

According to Gamesa, its supply contracts in Brazil now add up to 1.4GW.
