The courses promote best practice in health and safety

Maersk Training has launched five Global Wind Organisation (GWO) Basic Safety Training Refresher courses – designed to underpin best practice in health and safety in the wind industry.

The courses cover manual handling, first aid, fire awareness, work at height and sea survival, and are obligatory for GWO-trained personnel who wish to continue working in the industry after their initial certification has expired.

If taken before the full certificate lapses, the GWO refresher package – scheduled to run weekly from May onwards – can be completed over three days, with an additional day if sea survival is required.

GWO certificates last for two years, with the exception of sea survival which is of four years duration. Anyone who attended a GWO course in 2012 is now due for renewal, according to Maersk Training.
